CS371p Fall 2020: Roman Kuhn

Where did you grow up?

Spring, Texas (Houston)

What high school did you attend?

Klein High School.

What was your favorite extracurricular activity in high school?

I was in the chess club and I went beast mode.

Why did you come to UT?

Because it is the best public school in Texas. I didn’t want to go out of state because of financial reasons.

Why are you majoring in CS?

Because I find the work really fun, easy, and rewarding.

Why are you in this class?

I had Downing for SWE and I really enjoyed him as a professor. I also need to work on my C++ skills.

What are your expectations of this class?

I imagine it’s going to be a lot like SWE.

How much C++ do you already know?

Barely any…

How did you like the two lectures?

They were pretty good.

How did you feel about the cold calling?

Don’t really like it, but this semester I am much more comfortable with it since it’s on Zoom and things are a bit more anonymous.

What made you happy this week?

It was my girlfriend’s birthday this week and we had a lot of fun going to the domain, having a cheese plate and hanging out in the apartment.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My tip-of-the-week is to learn React JS. It will instantly make you basically a full-stack developer if you’re already comfortable with the back-end. It’s also a really fun language to learn.
