What did you do this past week?
This past week I mainly spent my time catching up on assignments for OOP, and other classes, studying for a geology exam, and doing three online assessments for different companies. The online assessments for different companies are such a pain because they always say they take 1–2 hours and they always end up taking me more like 5 which makes me feel dumb and like I am wasting my time. Oh well, I always tend to do well on actual interviews.
What’s in your way?
Nothing anymore. I have a lot of my work out of the way for this next week. All there is to do now is continue to prepare for my three interviews next week and do well. I am honestly quite anxious for my interviews, not because I am afraid I won’t do well but more because I want jobs at these companies so badly. Maybe it would be better for me to pretend like I don’t want to work there.
What will you do next week?
Next week I have three interviews at MSFT, Qualtrics, and Indeed. I am also expecting to get a return offer from GoDaddy this Monday so that’s exciting. After I finish all my interviews I’m going to party like crazy (in my own apartment of course) and I will also start the OOP project.
If you read it, what did you think of Ethical CS?
Haven’t read it yet….
What was your experience of lambdas, initializations, std::initializer_list, and std::vector? (this question will vary, week to week)
This week I really enjoyed the content. I think I am getting a much better idea of how C++ works and why everything is the way it is. The content is interesting and is clear to me. I do think the initializations are kind of strange and I’m not sure exactly how they apply outside of vector that much but I guess I will get a better idea the more I code.
What made you happy this week?
I started going back to the gym which is awesome! I feel really sore which is one of my favorite feelings in the world. They are also being very safe at the gym which makes me happy as well.
What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?
My tip-of-the-week is to look up cool APIs and libraries online to get ideas for personal projects. It’s pretty rare to build something entirely from scratch and I often find myself having trouble thinking about what to build next. Looking up cool libraries I can build things on top of usually helps.
