1. What did you do this past week?

This past week I primarily worked on all the tasks that I had to finish up. That basically means helping all the researchers I mentor learn about ALS and some bioinformatics sequencing stuff stuff. I also finish the SWE project.

2. What’s in your way?

Although I think I’m actually quite a pro at time management, still sometimes it feels like an hour will pass and I will no have no idea how it did. I think I need to just eat my food faster or something. Sometimes my girlfriend, who I live with, also could help get out of bed earlier. Most of the time I’m getting to my desk a little past 9 am because she takes a while to get out of bed but she hasn’t been feeling very well lately so that’s okay she can take her time.

3. What will you do next week?

Next week I will work on my software engineering project, as well as continue work on my CLI tool for researchers as well as working on my personal projects.

4. What was your experience of more SQL? (this question will vary, week to week)

I actually quite enjoyed the more SQL this week. Even though I’ve used SQL in the past, I haven’t actually had the need to know how to do more advanced queries like professor Downing demonstrated in class. Overall, I thought the way we learned the SQL queries was great.

5. What made you happy this week?

This week I got to eat a lot of ice cream which was pretty rad. I also had less work this week which also felt really nice. I think working out more and reading more always makes me happy so I’ll try to be doing more of that. Also I got to talk to my friends in Europe and Australia which was fun too!

6. What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My tip-of-the-week for this week is to meal prep, keep up with your friends, and learn about personal finance and how to invest your money. Meal prepping saves so much time, I make 15 meals in like 3 hours then never have to worry about cooking for the rest of the week. Keeping up with your friends is important because eventually they will be spread out across the country/world and you can go visit them! Everybody deals with money so it’s important to know what to do with it.
